Test Your Patient’s Response to Stimuli with the Wartenberg Pinwheel
A Wartenberg wheel also referred to as a Wartenberg pinwheel or Wartenberg Neurowheel—is a clinical instrument used in neurological examinations to assess cutaneous sensory function. The device consists of a small, spiked wheel that is gently rolled across the skin in a controlled and systematic manner, typically along defined dermatomal distributions.
As the wheel traverses the skin, it elicits a characteristic tingling sensation by stimulating superficial sensory nerves. The patient’s perception and response to this stimulus are carefully observed and correlated with anatomical nerve pathways, allowing the clinician to evaluate sensory integrity, detect abnormalities, and assess the functional status of peripheral nerves.
Features:
- Nickel Free, Hypo allergenic Steel;
- Radial spiked wheel;
- Can be sterilized before each use;
- 18 cm long.
